What is the hospital bill for?

Your first bill will include a summary of your charges by department, such as Emergency Room or Urgent Care Clinic. It may also include total charges, adjustments, payments and amounts due.

Subsequent bills will only include updates on payments and adjustments to your account.

If you are unsure about your bill, contact the the Central Business Office (CBO) toll-free at 1-866-903-0436 for assistance. Hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 6:30 pm ET / 7 am – 5:30 pm CST for assistance.


Is this my only bill for these medical services, or can I expect to receive others?

Any physicians or other providers will bill separately for their services. Depending on your care at Franciscan Alliance, you may receive a bill from

  • a radiologist who reads your X-ray or mammogram
  • an emergency room physician
  • anesthesiologist or surgeon
  • pathologist
  • other physician specialties


I'm not sure about some things on my bill. Is there someone I can talk to or meet with about it?

How can I pay my bill?

You may pay your bill:

  • By phone, 24 hours a day/7 days a week @ 1-866-903-0436 
  • Our customer service representatives are available at 1-866-903-0436 Monday – Friday 8 am – 6:30 pm ET / 7 am – 5:30 pm CT
  • By mail to the payment address on your billing statement.
  • Online on our payment site ( https://payments.franciscanalliance.org )

  • By meeting with a financial counselor at the hospital/facility where your services were performed.


When will I receive a bill?

Patients who are self-pay or who have no insurance will receive a bill shortly after their visit. Patients who have insurance will receive a bill for the remaining balance after insurance company has processed the claim. 


When do I become responsible for my bill?

You are responsible for your bill from the time you sign the consent. If you have insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, we will bill them for you before billing you.


My insurance company says I shouldn't have received a bill from the hospital. What should I do?

Why did you bill the wrong insurance?

We may have been given the wrong information or did not update our system. Call the Central Business Office at 1-866-903-0436. Hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 6:30 pm ET / 7 am – 5:30 pm CST , and we will update your insurance to re-file.
